Our Operations.....

The Fund aims to address enterprise development and local procurement objectives in terms of the AgriBEE framework, which applies to the entire value chain in the agricultural sector from the farm to the consumer’s plate. This will increase sustainable businesses that are owned, managed, and controlled by Black South Africans as envisaged in the AgriBEE charter, the Codes of Good Practice, and the B-BBEE Act.

The Fund will establish of an agro-processing linkages hub by establishing black owned SMMEs to produce for the commercial agricultural industry. The focus will be on livestock farming like commercial production of pigs, beef cattle, sheep, wool, chickens, eggs; and feedlot input supplies like maize, lucerne, hay, and other cash crops that are easily marketed within the province. The incubator will provide to the participating SMMEs project finance, project management, financial management, on-farm mentorship, technical assistance, training, capacity building, and off-take agreements.

The SMMEs will also present hands-on experience to previously disadvantaged agriculture graduates in the province, create sustainable employment for rural youth in the marginalised areas close to the SMMEs operations, broaden the supply pool of good quality agricultural produce in the Eastern Cape, and increase the economic participation of previously disadvantaged farmers and impoverished communities in commercial agriculture in a least developed region in the country.
